Francois Deville (1990, Perú), electronic producer, has developed music works spanning ambient, noise and techno, and scores for film and visual projects. In 2021 he founded the label ABAISSES in New York City.

Deville grew up in Peru where he completed studies in Law in 2012, working since then as assessor in commercial, social and cultural projects. He is partner of Caparrós law firm, and of Proyecto Z, an agency for strategic development. He is also associate/project director of asociacion Dignidad Humana y Solidaridad, a non-profit focused on humanitarian labor for assistance and creation of art, work and education opportunities in Peruvian prisons, where he contributes as volunteer on project development, the annual art exhibition and literary contest, multimedia and archive.

For several years in parallel to his advisor career he explored audiovisual practices, then performing as DJ, and soon embarking on new directions for production and scoring practices. In 2019 he moved to New York and enrolled at the Brooklyn College Sonic Arts MFA program (NYC), where he studied ambient practices, computer music, engineering, and psycho-acoustics from 2019-2022, working in composition seminars with artists Ben Vida, Red Wierenga, Doug Geers, and Tyondai Braxton. He has played live and DJ sets, performed alongside ensembles and groups, and recorded several mixtapes exploring the format as a narrative medium, influenced by the likes on works by Hugo and Dostoyevsky. His works have been presented at Internet Public Radio (Mexico), CASo - Centro de Arte Sonoro (Argentina), Radio Alhara (Jordan), Radio Tsunami (Chile), Discos Aquelarre (Peru), International Electroacoustic Music Festival (2019, 2023, New York), Experimental Sound Studio - ESS (Chicago). Mutant Radio (Tbilisi). Across 2021, he performed alongside the CEAC Group, an electroacoustic group formed with Eva Redamonti, Isaac Matus and Sol León. This collaboration recorded various live performances, covering a wide span of electronic explorations, from expanded scores to free improvisations. Initially conceived as a space for audiovisual experimentation, his label ABAISSES has released music works by electronic composer Brian Lindgren (“Etudes & Vignettes For Electronic Viola” and “Nuages”, both recorded with the new instrument built by Lindgren, the Electronic Viola [EV]), artists Rolando Hernández, Nawito Morales, Christian Delón and Eduardo Astudillo (“BDINGR'”, an experimental improvisation by the fourtet, recorded in Valparaiso, Chile), and has also featured audio/visual works of singer Leonda Dewar, Y.L.I.M, TALARICO, sound artist and DJ aka-Sol, visual artist and composer Eva Redamonti, electronic producer Isaac Matus, among others. In late 2021, Deville presented ABAISSES at Umbral 50, the last edition of the experimental Mexican festival UMBRAL, presenting Lindgren’s Nuages, upcoming release for the label, and “El desierto crece/ el desierto avanza”, a new mix recorded by Deville for the festival. Latest issue for the label is album “Instantes” by CEAC Group. ABAISSES works can be found here.
